Week Eight

Most of the box was finished by this time. The case was completely put together and painted. The gears had axles in them (glued in with rubber cement) and everything fit properly into place. Most of the physical work on the toy was finished. During the lab time in week eight, the following issues/unfinished components were addressed:

  • The Arduino needed to be adjusted so that it properly measures the RPM.
  • The game manual needed to be finished, complete with gameplay instructions, a list of parts, and the objectives.
  • The game objectives needed to be printed on cardstock.
Other than these aspects, everything left was fine-tuning and further testing. The game itself, as a prototype, was essentially already finished. The motor runs at an acceptable speed that is not too fast for a children's game or for the game components to handle. The toy is lightweight and not too unwieldy for children. Overall, the game at this point was expected to finish strongly.
